MOTHER YOU HELD ME !
You tied my shoes in the dark
Rubbed the sleep from my eyes
Packed my lunch in a hurry
Still you made it feel bright
Your hands knew every fever
Every bruise, every tear
You said, "Hold on, baby . I'm right here"
And when the world felt heavy
You carried what I couldn't hold
You gave me courage In a coat of gold
Mother, you held me ;You held me close
Mother, you loved me ;More than I know
When I fall apart ;You stitch me whole
Mother, you held me ;You held me close
You stayed up counting breaths
By the glow of the hall
When I broke down crying
You answered every call
You shared your last good bite
Gave me the warmer seat
You made a home out of
The hardest week
And when I couldn't see it
You were still shining through
Like a small brave lantern
Showing me true
Mother, you held me ;You held me close
Mother, you loved me ;More than I know
When I fall apart ;You stitch me whole
Mother, you held me ;You held me close
Now I see your tired eyes
All the miles you walked for me
Every scar, every worry
Was your way of setting me free
If I ever have a child
I'll know what love can do
'Cause your care lives in my bones And I carry you.
Mother, you held me ;You held me close
Mother, you loved me ;More than I know
When I fall apart ;You stitch me whole
Mother, you held me ;You held me close
Mother, you held me ;You held me close
Mother, you loved me ; More than I know
